Pastor Harper - Nathan's Pastor

Reference Letter - Ken Collier

July 2010

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my privilege to commend the ministry of Nathan and Katrina Bate to you. In the capacity as director of THE WILDS Christian Camp/Conference, I have known them as singles and lately as a married couple for these last 9 years.

Nathan was the sincere question-asker from the day he came on the campsite of THE WILDS. I found his questions to be thought-provoking and decidedly oriented not only to the ministry but also to his growth in Christ-likeness. Having come from a weaker home, when he started his relationship with Katrina, he even “kicked it up a notch” in his determination to get direction to be the godly leader in his future home. I remember enjoying the focused questions and found it rare among young men. He has always been determined to prepare himself not only academically, but also personally, for a lifetime of ministry. I know he has put disciplined work into his training, but he has also sought practical service and ministry opportunities to round out his education.

When he was an assistant pastor in Indiana, I had the privilege of being involved in a wedding at the church where he served. Because the pastor was away, I was able to see the interaction with the church members as he was left to be in charge. It was apparent that both Nathan and Katrina had the respect and admiration of the congregation. He is a disciplined man. He is an organized man. Even though he is a young preacher, his word has weight with people. He has a seriousness of purpose that is unmistakable, yet, for his seriousness, he is an optimistic, hopeful, enthusiastic servant of the Lord. He has technological talent which has become a blessing to others rather than a distraction wherever he has served. He will be the first to admit, I am sure, that he has much, much to learn in the ministry, but let me respectfully go on record to say that he is both a leader and a learner and I would be privileged to be a co-laborer with him in any ministry capacity.

Katrina is the product of a wonderful Christian home. She is involved and talented but is a diligent “keeper at home.” I know she will find fruitful and appropriate ways to be involved in any ministry to which they are involved. I would be happy to answer any questions about this recommendation. Please contact me at ken.collier@wilds.org or by phone, which is 828.884.7811.

Sincerely in Christ,

Ken Collier
